             abstract = "A diagnostic analysis of a Mesoscale Convective Complex (MCC) 
                         observed on April 24, 1997 over north sector of the Northeastern 
                         Region of Brazil is presented. The center of MCC reached 
                         Fortaleza-CE and vicinities and caused heavy precipitation. The 
                         area of MCC is about 200.000 Km 2 with a set of cumulonimbus with 
                         circular shape, temperature on the top of -75-C and a lifetime of 
                         aproximately 10 hours. The FUNCEME’s meteorological station 
                         recorded a total 270 mm of precipitation during an ininterrupt 
                         period of 13 hours, which corresponds to 79% of the monthly 
                         climatology of April. This heavy rain brought enormous damages to 
                         the population and to the Fortaleza city.",
